In this the second verse of the song:
Θ’ ανάψω το καντήλι
και το κερί θα σβήσω
τα μάτια μου θα κλείσω
και θα σ’ ονειρευτώ.

Are the actions here one or two separate ones? In other words, does she mean "I will light the candle and put out the taper" or, better and perhaps what is meant by Gatsos, "I will light the candle and then put it out"?

Candle can be used for both καντήλι and κερί, it seems. She will light the καντήλι, perhaps using a κερί to do it, and then she will put out the κερί.

Κερί is a wax or paraffin candle.

Καντήλι is an oil lamp (particularly one use to illuminate religious icons, usually of round shape, either placed in front of the icons or hung from the ceiling, as in orthodox churches).

Σ' ευχαριστώ, Δαεμάνε... Πολύ συγκινητικοί είναι οι στίχοι στα γερμανικά και στα αγγλικά, αλλά ειδικές ευχαριστίες για τη μετάφρασή σου του πρώτου στίχου στα ελληνικά. Οι λέξεις μού δίνουν μεγάλη παρηγοριά. Μου αρέσει επίσης όλη η μουσική του Μπαχ, ιδιαίτερα Τα κατά Ιωάννην Πάθη.
