What is the meaning of this proverb in context? It seems to mean 'the man without trousers didn't wear trousers & so he didn't get the squits on them'. What here does the του 'δε mean & why the apostrophe? A varia lectio is άβρακος βρακί δεν είχε τόδε και τσερλίστηκε. ...but does this variant make any sense?
