Good Morning Palavra, I think the Turkish phrase "kulağını sağır etmek" is best. sağırlaşmasına sebep olmak, işitemez duruma getirmek: Bu başını döndüren, kulağını sağır eden seslere karşı elinden ne gelirdi ki... -Y. Kemal.

The words which I highlighted seems to me as a comment of the translator. Or "το Ένα, ο Ένας" may be a phrase?
