This evening's passage is reasonably straightforward apart from these sentences. The context is about a lad who had had money stolen from his purse. A mysterious character (ο άνθρωπος), as I understand it, says this:- -Δεν έχεις χρήματα, είπε ο άνθρωπος, θαρρείς κι ήταν βέβαιος εκ των προτέρων...
