wolf whistle

As defined by Wikipedia a "wolf-whistle is a two-toned sound (like 'whip-woo') commonly made/ to show high interest or approval of something or someone, especially, if not exclusively, a young girl or woman thought to be physically/sexually attractive). Today, in English-speaking countries, wolf-whistling is considered a form of sexual harassment."
Is there a Greek term for such a phenomenon - clearly such a whistle may take place without there being an actual term for it?:wub:

Hi, Thes. I'd say "χυδαία σφυρίγματα" or "πονηρά σφυρίγματα" (and, of course, "ανδρικά σφυρίγματα") , but I look up "πονηρά σφυρίγματα" and most of the uses I get on google refer to soccer referees making unfair decisions!

Don't have a clue as to how it's described in Greek —if indeed there's a term for it; I think most people would say πονηρό σφύριγμα as Nickel says, or simply σφύριγμα— but if I were to describe it, I'd say something like σφύριγμα καμακιού or σφύριγμα για καμάκι. Kαμακιάρικο σφύριγμα might be another choice, but that's a bit too colloquial.

As far as I know, there is no special term.

When we refer to it, we simply say "whistle" (σφύριγμα / σφυρίζω), π.χ. "είναι κούκλα, περπατάει και της σφυρίζουν στον δρόμο".

Of course you can use any of the suggested expressions (to which I would add "θαυμαστικό σφύριγμα"), but there is no standard expression referring to this type of whistle exactly.
