retirement

Good morning friends,

I am trying to find a way of saying "I heard you are moving toward retirement" ... or "I heard you will be slowing down" and the only word that seems to come up is "συνταξη" which is pension.

Is there no way of referring to the process of stopping working without mentioning a pension? The two don't necessarily go together all the time... and it isn't somebody's pension that I want to refer to but the fact that they are going to stop working :)

You could try «Άκουσα ότι [σιγά σιγά] αποσύρεσαι / αποτραβιέσαι / απομακρύνεσαι (από τη δουλειά, τις δραστηριότητες κλπ)» or similar expressions in various combinations depending on context.
