Scots is the Germanic language variety spoken in Lowland Scotland and parts of Ulster (where the local dialect is known as Ulster Scots).[SUP][/SUP]It is sometimes called Lowland Scots to distinguish it from Scottish Gaelic, the Celtic language spoken in most of the western Highlands and in the Hebrides.

Ναι, αυτό είναι το πρόβλημα. Ενώ είναι τόσο οικείο, δεν ταυτίζεται με το "ωχ". Στα παραδείγματα που δίνει το λεξικό πιο πάνω, δεν θα μπορούσαμε να πούμε, "Ωχ, λέω να πάω για ύπνο"...

Αν δεν ήταν η χρήση σαν γενικό αρχικό επιφώνημα, θα έγραφα: Ώφου, ωχ, αμάν, ποιο να 'ναι; ;)

Αυτό μου ταιριάζει στους ορισμούς (surprise, regret, sorrow, contempt, annoyance, disagreement) και στα παραδείγματα που έχω συναντήσει.

Η γενική χρήση καλύπτεται, νομίζω, αλλάζοντας το ένα από τα δύο γράμματα:
Αχ, φεύγετε τώρα!
Αχ, λέω να πάω για ύπνο.

Το och how θέλει και ρώτημα; Φευ, αλίμονο, οϊμέ, που έχουν και την παλιακή χροιά, ιδίως το οϊμέ:
Εκφρ. ωχ οϊμέ (οϊμένα, οϊμέναν, ομένα), ώχου οϊμέ = αλίμονο

Δεν είναι ανάγκη να ταυτιστεί με ένα μόνο ελληνικό επιφώνημα.
Εγώ θα έλεγα ότι στα παραδείγματά σου φέρνει πιο πολύ σε "άντε" και σε "λοιπόν" αντίστοιχα.

Επίσης μπορεί (και ίσως πρέπει, κάποιες φορές) μια χαρά να παραλειφθεί τελείως.

Θα έλεγα ότι με ωχ μεταφράζεται όταν είναι έκπληξη [ωχ, τι είναι αυτό;], δυσφορία [ωχ μωρέ! ωχ πια!], παραίτηση [ωχ, δεν αντέχω άλλο, να σ' ακούω]. Επίσης: ωχ, δεν αντέχω άλλο, πάω για ύπνο. Σε άλλες περιπτώσεις ταιριάζουν τα προαναφερόμενα ουφ, αμάν, άιντε, ε, α ή και τίποτα.
