Anyway, the reason I didn't answer the door was because I was busy in bed, nudge nudge wink wink.
Usage notes
This is the equivalent of nudging someone and winking at them, which cannot be done in writing. When spoken, adds a humorous connotation.
In some areas is said as "wink wink, nudge nudge".

Any Greek equivalents or phrases used in such contexts, like 'as the actress said to the bishop' or '(if) you know what I mean'.:devil::down:

Magenta gives ο νοών νοήτω as a free translation for this phrase. Thanks to SBE for pointing out that this phrase need have no vulgar connotations. Is the version ο νοών νοείτω κι ουαί τω ανόητω an extension of this proverb? Someone (Daeman?) should take up the challenge of translating that Monty Python script excerpt. How might it go into Greek?! But I must admit that I never was a fan of Monty Python, apart from one or two of its more famous sketches.

Please note it's not *νοήτω, it's νοείτω:

If Magenta has *νοήτω, ουαί τω ανοήτω. Which I believe is a recent addition, not so common to be considered actually an extension.

I've done my share of translating Monty Python, Theseus -in verse no less, in song singalong- but lately I don't have time to even stop and smell the roses, let alone picking them, removing the thorns and making something presentable out of them. And obviously that's a theatrical skit that would lose more than half its flavour as plain text.
