Όπου "laudable pus" = An obsolete term used when suppuration was considered unlikely to lead to pyaemia (blood poisoning) but more likely to remain localised.

Εδώ βλέπω ότι όταν η διαπύηση παραμένει εντοπισμένη λέγεται απλώς απόστημα.

Επειδή όμως με εντυπωσιάζει αυτή η διατύπωση, τι εννοεί όταν λέει "lapsed back into the practice of suppuration";

Edit: Λάθος η εντύπωσή μου περί αποστήματος, αλλά παραμένει η ερώτησή μου.
