As the revelation can be analyzed in terms of formal and material correlatives, respectively the Logos and the humanity of Christ, so the individual believer’s act of faith can be analyzed, in terms of formal and material object. This analysis is complex. The formal object of the act of faith is that which causes the affirmation of faith to be true. This act, the affirmation of some enuntiabile, asserts the truth of that enuntiabile in its correlation with the prime truth of the revelation, in which the enuntiabile, in and by the correlation, participates, as potency to act.
