Ο ενικός είναι λάθος. Φοβάμαι ότι θα πρέπει να εμπιστευτείτε τη μνήμη μου. Λέγαμε External Services of the BBC και Εξωτερικές Υπηρεσίες του BBC.

Αναρωτιέμαι μήπως παίζει και κάτι σαν "Υπηρεσία (-ες) Υπερπόντιων Εδαφών [χωρίς να έχω βρει καταγεγραμμένο κάτι τέτοιο σε πηγή...]
Ναι, αυτό δεν θα έπαιζε καθόλου, αλλά δεν θυμάμαι να είπε κανείς «Υπερπόντιες Υπ. του ...» (και αποφεύγω να το κάνω εγώ εδώ
).Αυτό το παράθεμα με βοηθάει να βάλω μια τάξη στο μυαλό μου: δηλ. αν διαβάζω σωστά, αυτό που ήταν γνωστό ως «Εξωτερικές Υπηρεσίες του BBC» αποτελούνταν από τη «BBC Overseas Service» και τη «BBC European Service»

With the introduction of foreign-language services on the eve of the Second World War, the BBC Empire Service was renamed into BBC Overseas Service in November 1939. To this was added a separate BBC European Service in 1941—a consequence of the massive expansion of foreign-language broadcasting during the war. These broadcasting services were administratively separate from the BBC Home Service (for British listeners); they were not financed from the domestic licence fee but from a government grant-in-aid coming from the Foreign Office budget, and they were collectively known as the BBC External Services.
