Is there a way, friends, to make a reference to one’s retirement without using the word “συνταξιούχος”?
Especially in professions that don’t carry much of a pension. If you wanted to say that the electrician you usually use isn’t available any more because he’s retired. Or a waiter... etc.
Ο ηλεκτρολόγος δεν είναι διαθέσιμος ποια. Είναι συνταξιούχος.
“Συνταξιούχος” in this case sounds a little odd.
Or if you want to tell someone that you heard they are "slowing down" but again without reference to their pension - which sounds so venal.
Γεια σου Γεωργο. Άκουσα οτι σιγά σιγά αποσύρεσαι απομακρύνεσαι από την δουλειά.
