Two questions: Why is it σαν τη δική του and not της; And does it mean 'needs a profile of its own' ? Or 'a presence of its own' i.e. a person who represents it or who is associated with it.

The meaning of this phrase is "Discography needs someone like him" (litt.: Discography needs a presence like his). Alkinoos Ioannides is a man, this is why the «του» is used.
