Βρίσκω ένα silkstone στη Wikipedia, το binghamite, ένα είδος αχάτη, αλλά δηλώνω γεωλογικώς αναρμόδιος:

Description
Mining in the area uncovered deposits of the stone, but since mining operations were discontinued in the area many years ago the stone has become fairly rare and is sought after by lapidarists and gem collectors. The stone has areas that are highly chatoyant similar to pietersite or tiger's eye. It is a variety of quartz with fibers of goethite or hematite usually in colors of red, gold, and black. The best binghamite compares with top pietersite for color and chatoyancy. When the stone's pattern is arranged in level lines it is called silkstone. Binghamite shows crystal growth in all directions. It is named after William Bingham, a lapidary, who discovered it in 1936 while out walking with his son.

Though apparently unintelligent, this is due to heat negatively affecting the conductivity of their silicon brains, which operate in a similar fashion to computer circuits (in essence a trollish form of hyperthermia). In the coldness of the high mountain areas that they usually call home, they can, in certain respects, be quite clever. When sufficiently deep-frozen, they can perform exceptional mathematical feats, possibly involving quantum computing.

Πέρα από την πλάκα, μήπως αποκλείσουμε οριστικά το ένα, μπορεί το έδαφος να είναι από αχάτη (ΟΚ, μπινγκαμίτη) και να 'χει και αρχαιολογικά ευρήματα μέσα στο silkstone (και μάλιστα grain χωρίς επίθετο να το προσδιορίζει); :huh:
Μπορεί απλούστατα να είναι ορθογραφικό εκείνου που δαχτυλογράφησε το κείμενο. Πολλοί συγγραφείς υπαγορεύουν το κείμενό τους σε μαγνητοφωνάκι και μετά το απομαγνητοφωνεί κάποιος "χαμάλης", οπότε δικαιολογείται να παράκουσε. Ο ορθογράφος τού Word (τουλάχιστον ο δικός μου, έκδ. 2002) δεν επισημαίνει το silkstone για λάθος, οπότε (αφού και το grain σωστό είναι ορθογραφικά) έμειναν έτσι. Άλλωστε, για έναν άσχετο με τα γεωλογικά (όπως είναι ο δαχτυλογράφος κι ένας φιλολογικός διορθωτής) η σύναψη grain silkstone είναι εξίσου ακατανόητη με τη σύναψη gray siltstone.
Αυτό ξαναπές το, Ζαζ. Τι ομορφιές έχω διαβάσει στις μεταγραφές του οπτικοακουστικού υλικού που μας δίνουν για τον υποτιτλισμό, δεν λέγεται*. Τον χαμάλη δεν τον κακίζω, με τόσο χαμηλή αμοιβή που παίρνει, εκτός αν πρόκειται για κάτι ολοφάνερο. Ευτυχώς, τουλάχιστον στον υποτιτλισμό, πολλές φορές τέτοια σφάλματα τα ξεσκεπάζει ο ήχος, η εικόνα, η προσοχή και η λογική.
