ping off a cellular tower

Η θέση ενός κινητού μπορεί να εντοπιστεί από την επικοινωνία του με τις κεραίες της κινητής που βρίσκονται στα διάφορα μέρη. Πώς θα αποδίδατε αυτό το ping off; Δεν θέλω να χρησιμοποιήσω τη λέξη "επικοινωνεί" με την κεραία για δυο λόγους: πρώτον είναι μεγάλη λέξη για υπότιτλο και δεύτερον μάλλον θα πρέπει να τη βάλω και σε εισαγωγικά.
H Μικρομαλακή πάντως δεν έχει μετάφραση στο γλωσσάρι της.

Αντανακλά σε πύργο / κεραία;

Κάτι με ανάκλαση. Σήμα ανάκλασης, πινγκ ανάκλασης, τέτοια.

Για υπότιτλο, τι να πω; Να ρισκάρεις κάτι σαν «γκελ στις κεραίες»; Αλλά τότε γιατί να μην τα πεις πινγκ και να τελειώνει το θέμα;

ή

με λήψη σήματος από τις κεραίες

Το ping off είναι και τα δύο βέβαια, αλλά ή υπότιτλο θα γράψουμε ή τεχνικό κείμενο.

Έγραψα στην αρχή, "Εκπέμπει από ένα πύργο γύρω στα 500 μέτρα".
Ενώ μετά το άλλαξα σε, "Προέρχεται από μια κεραία γύρω στα 500 μέτρα".

Ας αναπολήσουμε τις παλιές καλές εποχές, όταν πρωτοεμφανίστηκαν τα τοπικά δίκτυα υπολογιστών και το ping ήταν το πιο σημαντικό πράγμα στη ζωή μας:

Ping is a computer network administration software utility used to test the reachability of a host on an Internet Protocol (IP) network and to measure the round-trip time for messages sent from the originating host to a destination computer and back. The name comes from active sonar terminology that sends a pulse of sound and listens for the echo to detect objects underwater;[1] however, the acronym "PING" meaning "Packet InterNet Groper" has been in use since early days[2] in computing for testing and measuring networks and the Internet.

Ping operates by sending Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) echo request packets to the target host and waiting for an ICMP echo reply. Αν δεν μας αρέσει το «επικοινωνεί», συμφωνώ με το «δίνει σήμα/παίρνει σήμα» (ό,τι προτιμάτε) του δαεμάνου, ή ακόμα και «μιλάει» (με την κεραία - εντός ή εκτός εισαγωγικών).
