points and hooks = αιχμές και επιμηκύνσεις γομφίων (;)

Καλησπέρα,

μήπως ξέρετε πώς θα αποδίδαμε τα points and hooks στα δόντια ενός αλόγου;

Floating a horse's teeth is a process of filing down sharp points that develop on the molars.
Other problems that can develop in a horse's mouth are hooks and loose teeth. Hooks occur when the molars do not match up in a different way. Usually the upper molars are slightly forward of the lower molars.

Όπως φαίνεται κι από τον παραπάνω ελληνικό σύνδεσμο, «αιχμές» είναι και στις δύο περιπτώσεις ή, προσθέτω, «αιχμηρά σημεία». Και για τα hooks:

Unopposed teeth will need to be cut back routinely to prevent the tooth from impacting the opposite gum. This may occur after a tooth is lost or in abnormal occlusion occurring when the upper and lower jaws are not aligned properly, resulting in the first and last tooth being partially unopposed. This tooth will have a section that is worn away, while the rest of the tooth continues to grow and develop a pointed surface at the unopposed end--referred to as dental hooks.​

Επειδή δεν μπορούμε να χρησιμοποιήσουμε τον όρο «άγκιστρο», προτείνω (μέχρι να περάσει ο τανάλιας) να πεις «επιμηκύνσεις των γομφίων».
