Hi friends,

Does Kazantzakis create a new Word at here; something a compound of "τζάμι" and plus "στάση" or "σταματώ"?

The meaning is vitrail or stained glass. The usual Greek term is βιτρώ (from the French plural vitraux), but Kazantzakis probably preferred to make his own compound on the model of εικονοστάσι, "a wall/surface of icons".

Just Kazantzakis' demotic term for υαλοστάσιο, which is the word that formally describes a window of glass panes encased in a frame. Bien translates this as tracery, which describes the stonework elements that support the glass in a Gothic window. Tracery, however, cannot be «πολύχρωμα όλο φως». Stained glass it is.
