    Actually you were right! Daeman s explanation is fantasy. The actual derivation of the word is βαριέμαι < βαριούμαι < βαρούμαι (the passive form of) < βαρώ < βάρος. Very interesting is also the phrase we use when we have nothing to do and we get bored we say «βαρώ μύγες».
