    halicin = χαλικίνη

    Η χαλικίνη πήρε το όνομά της από τον Hal της Οδύσσειας του Διαστήματος. Άρα λοιπόν δεν μπορούμε να την πούμε «αλικίνη», όπως λέμε π.χ. «αλοθάνιο» το halothane. Και το -icin στις καταλήξεις των φαρμάκων μεταφράζεται κατά κανόνα «-ικίνη» (γενταμικίνη, ριφαμπικίνη, αμφοτερικίνη, δοξορουβικίνη...).

    Powerful antibiotic discovered using machine learning for first time

    Jonathan Stokes, the first author of the study, said it took a matter of hours for the algorithm to assess the compounds and come up with some promising antibiotics. One, which the researchers named “halicin” after Hal, the astronaut-bothering AI in the film 2001: A Space Odyssey, looked particularly potent.
    Life is an aberration; it appears under unusual conditions, where there is an abnormal amount of resources, and then proceeds to expand and evolve, consuming those resources until eventually it dies away, leaving behind only bare rock and empty soda cans.

    anywhere I lay my head

    "I feel much better now. I really do. Look, Dave, I can see you're really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over."

    "I know I've made some very poor decisions recently. But I can give you my complete assurance that my work will be back to normal."

    Θεωρητικά, θεωρία και πράξη είναι το ίδιο πράγμα. Στην πράξη, όμως, διαφέρουν.
    When this you see, remember me and bear me in your mind, let all the world say what they may, speak of me as you find.
