Greek Resources

γεια σας!

Obv. I'm a newbie here, and I'm not even sure if I should be posting this in this section, or if I should be writing in Greek or in English (the FAQ section wasn't too precise) but here goes nothing!

I started studying Greek a month ago, and the lack of resources still baffles me. Up to now I've been fighting through the FSI Greek Course but it's so out-dated I feel like it's useless (1969) I've been pondering on getting the Greek Assimil course, or the useless (or so I've heard) Greek Teach Yourself book. I also was told in uni that they use this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Greek-Now-1-Plus/dp/9608513707/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8 Apparently it's 'fantastic', but the price is 'fantastic' too.

Either way, I really don't even care about the price now, if you guys could just inform me what you use/could be used, free/paid or whatever possible (<-- pretty desperate) or just what you use to study, or how you study, then I'd be thankful for a bajillion years.

Right now I'm making my slow little way through this: http://www.hau.gr/?i=learning.en.podcasts-in-greek

And if I should re-write this in Greek, let me know too.

Thx!

Re: Ellinika Tora
They are the textbooks most people use, but I'm afraid they are designed to be used in the classroom by a Greek language teacher. So maybe not very useful if you are learning alone. Similarly, Epikinoniste ellinika.

I agree. I'm afraid that they wouldn't be of much use now, without a teacher, my Greek being at such a young and fragile stage. But thanks!!
