An ordinary word for a farm

Oh, wow -- I'm puzzled at why there doesn't seem to be an answer to this. Okay- to be more specific if I wanted to translate "Pavlos buried his father on his farm." could one say "Ο Παύλος έθαψε τον πατέρα του στο αγροτικό του κτήμα"?

    Bribery

Looking for a colloquial word for "to bribe" or "bribery." I know about "δώροδοκια" but wondering if there's something more colloquial, please. Also, can anyone recommend an online dictionary of Greek synonyms and/or antonyms. Thank you.

An ordinary word for a farm

I am looking for the best colloquial word for a farm as in a piece of property where they grow produce or graze animals. I see "αγρόκτημα" but is that the best choice? Is that how a farmer would refer to his property? I'm not talking about an "official" word like the kind you might find on a...

    Addressing a monk or a nun and…

When you are addressing a monk you would say “γέροντα” right? When addressing a nun would you say “αδελφή” - right? And in Greece is there no distinction between a monastery and a convent? Anotherwords are they both called “μοναστίρια”? Thank you.

Citizens Action Groups = Ομάδες Δράσης Πολιτών

I'm coming back to this to ask if there is a word for meetings that elected officials (like mayors, for example) might hold where they discuss issues of common interest? Would "Συνέλευση" be appropriate or something like that?

    to stream a show

Reposting on this thread, I want to ask a question that is more cultural than linguistic-- if I may. Does anyone know of a website where one can stream old Greek movies (for a fee) -- particularly the award winning ones that one can't see in cinemas today or find on dvd's? I'm reading a book on...

Citizens Action Groups = Ομάδες Δράσης Πολιτών

Is there a word or phrase in Greek for "Citizens Action Groups" like the kind that elected officials meet with to discuss specific topics? For example, after the elections last week, a mayor might meet with such a group to discuss a specific subject like traffic on an island. Is this customary...

    Moving vehicles in general

In my case I am referring to moving vehicles on a Greek island so there would definitely be no self-driving cars. “Μηχανοκίνητα οχήματα” feels right. I wonder if you all agree?

    Moving vehicles in general

If one wants to refer to any moving vehicles in general -- collectively -- like cars, motorcycles, and atv's (gourounes) you can use "αυτοκινούμενα οχήματα” but is there anything else? Thank you.

Good morning friends, There are streets on our island where motorcycle riders drive at unbelievably fast and dangerous speeds. What do we call the speed cameras that one sees deployed on the streets that photograph people that are speeding and giving them tickets? I know they exist in the...

    Disturbing the peace

Did I do it again, Pontio? You wrote "Un autre moment de deja vu" but I searched for "Disturbing the Peace" in the Search field and it didn't pull up anything. Is there some other way of searching?

    Disturbing the peace

Good morning friends. What would the Greek expression be for "Disturbing the Peace" as when a rooster crows all night or dog barks without stopping? How would one refer to it when speaking to the police? Thank you.

What to say to a seriously ill person

Good morning friends. I know I've touched on this in the other threads (Περαστικά) but I'm wondering if we could address this head on? You have a seriously ill person, maybe elderly, maybe not, that may or may not survive but it's uncertain. They're at the phase of their treatment where it...
