too close to call

too close to call means impossible to guess the result in advance:-
--Tonight's semifinals match is too close to call.
Usually said about a competition or an election:-
--London mayor race is too close to call.
Final result depends on wether [sic] it's the Labour and Conservative party machine which best brings out its supporters. Headline in the Guardian.
Referred to in Private Eye as the Grauniad, because of the frequency in it of typing erors!:sneaky:

I think the phrase is also used when comparing two items, dimensions, results etc., especially visually. In such cases, you could also use "μία η άλλη".
