Τον πόλεμο τον κάνουνε

In the above song there is one line which reads φωτιά τον κόσμον πέρασαν. What exactly does φωτιά περνάω mean? I would understand it if it were πήραν. Does it mean 'they [the cannons] have left the world ablaze '/'have passed by a world on fire'?:blush:
