What does τα 'παρά' του επαγγέλματος mean & does θα μείνει στους δρόμους imply that such people will thrive? :mellow:

Τα παρά του επαγγέλματος means, I guess, all those jobs-income sources that depend on the main activity, here on the burial business.

Θα μείνει στους δρόμους certainly means that they will be left without work and income. The author implies that if cremation becomes the norm then a lot of professions depending on burials will have a hard time.

Correct. Παρα- is used to create compounds signifying, among other things, a parallel structure, existence or activity. "Το παρακράτος", parallel state, state within a state. Παραπαιδεία, shadow education. Παραοικονομία, underground economy, shadow economy. Here, parallel activities, not necessarily illegal or parasitic.
