Is the phrase in bold an idiom? 'To give it to the Pope to bless' sounds very much like it. Are there other contexts where it could be used or is this a one-off invention.

The local priest usually does αγιασμούς.

I think it is because it describes a super-monda, whatever a μόντα is. δηλ, it is so big a μόντα, no ordinary priest can bless it. Therefore, it requires a super-priest i.e the Patriarch of the Roman Church. Just a guess. For context all I have is slang.gr under μόντα.
